BEST Trust Terms and Conditions
ALL Courses – are free of charge to Buy-back schools unless otherwise stated. Costs appearing in the Training Guides or on the web site are for schools NOT buying into BEST Trust.

In addition, BEST Trust members will receive 4 sessions FREE – on any combination of Health and Safety courses. BEST Trust will keep a record of usage. Extra days will be charged at the prices listed. Two-day courses count as two sessions etc.

BEST Trust members receive AT COST – attendance the annual school leader residential conference, saving members around £370 per residential place.

*All staff must have the permission of their headteacher to book on a course.

Course Cancellation Charges
The cancellation fees set out below shall apply in the event a delegate’s attendance at a course is cancelled, at the delegate’s request.

Cancellation Charges –  Cancellation Fee Payable
15-11 clear working days prior to the start of the course 50%
10-6 clear Working Days prior to the start of the course 75%
Fewer than six (6) Working Days prior to the start of the course 100%

Non-BEST Members:
Non-attendance of the course shall be deemed to be a cancellation of fewer than 6 working days’ notice and the cancellation fee quoted above, will be incurred.

BEST Trust Members
Health & Safety Courses – if cancellation is made less than 5 working days prior to the event then full costs will be incurred.

Non-attendance at other courses without prior cancellation will result in a charge of £50.00 per member of staff, per training activity.

FAQs

Do I have to get permission from my Headteacher to attend a course?

YES, if a course is in your normal working time, however, it is always good practise to inform school even if a course is out of working hours, so that training can be recorded. Any training which will incur costs to the school must always be authorised by the Headteacher.

Does my school pay for courses?

Generally not, if your school pays a yearly subscription to the BEST Trust. However, when a school has used the 4 FREE Health & Safety course allowance there will be a discounted charge. A select few courses incur additional costs but are heavily subsidised. Please check our “Commitment to Schools” for more details.
Non-members: All courses are charged to the participants school at the advertised rate.

Does my school buy into the BEST Trust?

Check with your Headteacher or School Secretary/Bursar.

Will school be charged if I don’t attend a course?

Health & Safety Courses – if cancellation is made less than 5 working days prior to the event then full costs will be incurred.
Non-attendance at other courses without prior cancellation will result in a charge of £50.00 per member of staff, per training activity for  BEST Trust members or full cost of the course for non-members.

Do I have to inform BEST Trust if I cannot attend a course?

Yes, please send your apologies as soon as you are aware you cannot attend a course. This will enable us to allocate a place to someone on the waiting list. All cancellations must be received in writing via email to training@besttrust.uk and it is the responsibility of the school to ensure that the cancellation has been received. Phone call cancellation is acceptable but this must be followed up by email.

How do I know where a course is taking place?

Each course clearly informs you of the Venue. Your confirmation will also state the venue. Participants should check confirmations carefully in case venue, timings, etc have been altered. Confirmations will also indicate any documents/information participants need to bring with them.

How do I know if I have a place on a course?

Course confirmations are sent to all participants once a course is viable via email. BEST Trust will email school offices as well as any alternative email addresses been supplied. If you have not received confirmation of a place within two weeks of the start date, please check with the BEST trust office on 0161 603 4628.

Can I just turn up for a course?

NO. All participants with confirmed places will be on the attendance register which must be signed upon arrival. Anyone not on the attendance register will be sent back to school regardless of whether or not supply cover has been booked. It is the responsibility of participants to ensure they have a confirmation email of their place. Confirmations are sent to the email address on the application form or to the school office.

Can someone attend in my place?

Yes for one-off courses as long as they meet the audience requirements. However, for multi-session courses, that will be up to the discretion of the trainer as often sessions build on previous sessions and gap tasks. Please contact BEST Trust if you would like to request a substitute for a session.
