A BRAND NEW Y4/Y5 WRITING & READING UNIT –ONE BOY’S WAR

Former National Strategies Consultant Participants will receive a unique unit pack in addition to extensive IT resources that meet the expectations of the new national curriculum in a dynamic and stimulating manner, providing a fabulous collection of ideas and resources to inspire and promote creative writing and reading.

Target Group: Year 4 and 5 teachers, new to Year 4 and 5 teachers, literacy coordinators, KS2 leaders, assistant headteachers, teaching assistants working in upper KS2.

Course Information:

Using the text ‘One Boy’s War’ by Lynn Huggins-Cooper & Ian Benfold Haywood and with extracts from Michael Foreman’s ‘War Game’.

A series of reading and writing  ideas will allow the children to  engage in pre-text reading and writing work on the events of the Great War and  provide a detailed context for the story.

An exciting and extensive unit of work, including a wealth of differentiated resources, media and ICT, to develop reading and writing for teachers in Y4 and Y5.
