The course is suitable for anyone who looks into complaints from parents, staff or pupils. It will enable Heads, SLT members and governors to ensure they do not compromise investigations and ensure the correct people deal with a complaint, especially if there is a chance it may be escalated.
In addition, the session will focus on practical tips to consider in all types of investigations (including parental complaints and other complaints) from note taking to identifying relevant evidence and scrutinising that evidence to provide an investigation report.
The session will include an explanation in clear language of the law on unfair dismissal to set the background on the key points Investigating Managers need to have in mind when carrying out investigations into grievances or disciplinary investigations. This session will also take an in depth look at the role of the Investigation Officer in giving evidence at Hearing and Tribunal.
